As an architect and designer, I am passionate about all inspirational things made by creative and skilled people. Fashion is somehow connected with architecture and design, and these days, the futuristic/SciFi concept has taken over the fashion industry too. Today I show you a very interesting concept of clothing made from unconventional materials, which was created by a very talented French team – FuturoTextiles – the clothing of the future.
Cellulose dresses without seams that grow with the help of bacteria used to ferment wine, lace made of strawberries roots or shirts that record heart rate, breathing and movements of the person who wears them. As amazing as this may sound, these are actual real clothing pieces you can admire in FuturoTextiles exhibitions. The concept behind their exhibitions belongs to the association lille3000a located in Lille, France. The main purpose of the exhibition is to share the many uses of contemporary textile materials, starting from the artistic creation and up to applied sciences. They also put an accent on technology innovation, by combining unconventional materials withart and haute couture fashion. The FuturoTextiles concept was initiated in 2006, and since then they’ve held presentations and organized exhibitions all over the world.
